At age 17, Robin discovered Egyptian belly dancing (Raqs Sharqi) and immediately fell in love. Originally using dance as a respite from a cross-country move, she was enchanted by the amount of confidence and pure joy the dance brought her. Since returning to Maine in 2015, her education has brought a deeper understanding of rhythms, history, and customs in Raqs Sharqi-which she continues to learn and strives to share with her students. In her classes you can expect an emphasis on learning foundational moves in an encouraging environment, and leaning into the simple joy of dancing in community. Robin’s background also involves teaching yoga, and studying nervous system regulation through movement. When she’s not shimmying, you can find her canoe-camping all over Maine, trying to be an amateur birder, reading romance, and most likely laughing at her own jokes.
